A step-by-step guide to uploading your image/media files onto your mnartists.org page

To add or edit work uploaded to your Artist homepage, you must first log in to mnartists.org using your email/username and password.

Feel free to download the pdf above which provides the same information but is also ilustrated with images of what your computer screen will look like as you go through the steps.

Before you begin, you may find it helpful to put all of your images (or other media files) of your work or that you’d like to upload into a new file on your desktop.  It is also helpful to have all of the information about your work at hand as you will be asked to add the title, your artistic role, and any other information about the piece before you upload the image file itself.

1.) Once logged in click on “My Account” in the top menu bar. Then click on the “Add/Edit Work” link found on your right-hand side menu under “Account Information.”

2.) First you will be asked to provide information about the work that you will next upload on the “Work Detail” page. You are required to provide a “Title of Work” and also to select the “Artistic Role” you had in producing it. For the artistic role, you must select from the options provided, but you can select more than one role if applicable by holding down the control key (if using a PC) or command key (if using a Mac) while clicking on your options.

3.) The following three sections are optional, so you may add in additional information about your work if you’d like, but it is not required.  For the “Statement” and “Reviews” sections, it is best to have your text written out first in a word document.  Then you can copy this text and paste it into the “Work Detail” page using the “Paste From Word” icon (which looks like a clipboard with a “W” on it) on the toolbars in both the “Statement” and “Reviews” sections.

4.) When you click on the “Paste from Word” icon, a pop-up window will appear.  Go back to your word document and copy your text (control or command key + letter “C” key). Return to the mnaritsts.org window and click your cursor in the “Paste from Word” window and paste your text (control/command key + letter “V” key).  Then click on the “Insert” button on the lower left-hand corner of the “Paste from Word” window. Then your text should appear in the “Statement” or “Reviews” box on the “Work Detail” page.

5.) Once you’ve entered in all the information you’d like into these two boxes, you may also enter any relevant URLs in the last section titled “Other Information.” This may be a link to your own personal artist website, a blog, or any other weblink that relates to your work. This is also the section where you may check the box to have this work featured on your artist homepage.  You may change your featured work at any time.  Once all of your information is entered, click the “Update” button on the lower left.

6.) Now you will be taken back to the “Work Detail” screen that now has a new section at the top titled “Related Media Files.” This is where you will now upload your image or other media file of your work.  Click on the link “Click to upload a New File.”

7.) In the next page, the “Media File Detail,” you can “Browse” your computer for the image/media file that corresponds to the information you’ve already entered about this work. (Here’s where it comes in handy to have already placed those files all together in a new file on your desktop. And it is also nice to have the files labeled by “title” so that you can upload the right files to the right descriptions.) Click on the “Browse” button and select the media file that corresponds to the title you’ve already entered, and then click on the “Open” button.

8.) Now you should see that your “File” field has been filled in and you can now fill in the other required field, “Media Title” with the title of your work.  There is also an optional field for a description of your file, feel free to fill in the same way you had done so in the “Statement” and “Reviews” sections earlier - using the “Paste from Word” icon. Once all of your information is entered, click on the “Update” button at the bottom left corner of this page:

9.) If your file is too large or incompatible in some way, you will receive a screen like this noting in red text that your file did not upload. Now you can click on browse again to upload a file within the size limitations (which are specified under the “List of supported File Types” link in blue beneath the “File” field of this page) and then click the “Open” button. Now you should see that your file has filled in the “File” field and you are ready to click on “Update” in the lower left corner of this screen.

10.) Once you’ve successfully added a new file, your “Work Detail” page will appear looking like the image below, note the red text stating “Your changes were saved” which indicates along with the box inside the “Related Media Files” section showing your work that your file has been uploaded. Now you can view your work by clicking on the “View Your Artist Homepage” link on your right-hand side menu bar. If you chose to “feature” your work, it will appear on your main artist homepage. Otherwise you can click on your “Gallery” located in the right side menu bar of your homepage to see your work there. Now you can click on the title of your work (in blue), and see all the information you’ve entered about your work as well as the full size image.

11.) To add more work or edit the files, descriptions or any other details of your work already uploaded, simply return to your account page by clicking on “My Account” at in the top main menu bar, and start over from the beginning.  Remember to click the “update” button at the bottom of the page after making any changes or additions to ensure those changes and uploads are saved.
