Entries are being accepted for the Minnesota Watercolor Society Fall Open Show at Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts

The following information is informational only. You must obtain an entry form to enter.

Entry forms can be downloaded online at www.minnesotawatercolors.com or call CeCeile Hartleib at 651-647-6078 to have one mailed to you. You may join the Minnesota Watercolor Society or renew your membership by sending a separate check for the membership dues with your entry form and entry fee. The first 80 paintings will be accepted. We will
return forms and entry fees arriving after space is filled or the deadline has passed.

Schedule of Events

Tuesday, September 6 -Postmark deadline for entries
Saturday, Sept. 24 -Drop off art: Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts (10am - 1pm)
Sept. 29 - Oct. 22 -Exhibition is open
Thursday, Sept. 29 -Awards Reception (6-8pm)
(Awards Ceremony-7pm)
Saturday, Oct. 22 -Pick up art: Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts (12:30pm - 3:30pm))

The Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts will be open Oct. 22 from 10 am to allow out-state residents to view the show before picking up their work.

Specifications:

All paintings must be original, two-dimensional works in water based media on a paper surface (including YUPO),that may or may not be altered (e.g., gesso, gel medium),or on canvas or board that has been treated or coated toaccept watermedia, applied in a transparent or opaque manner (no impasto acceptable). Collage (no found materials acceptable), if used, must be treated with water media only and subordinate to the overall painting. Drawing elements (ink, pastel, crayons, pencil, etc.) are acceptable. Copies of other artists work will not be accepted, nor will copies of published photos or work from photos not taken by the artist. Paintings must be original, completed within the last two years, not done in a workshop nor under the supervision of an instructor. Works previously shown in a MnWS exhibition are not eligible.

Judge for Awards:
Thomas A. Kayser of Kalamazoo, MI, will judge the exhibition.

Awards:
Awards will be given in the following categories: Best of Show, Emrich/Stordahl Founders Award, First, Second, and Third Honors, Honorable Mention, Award of Merit, and People's Choice. The Awards Reception will be held at the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts on Thursday, September 29, 6-8 pm, with the Awards Ceremony at 7 pm.

Sales:
Paintings may be offered for sale or ?Not For Sale? (NFS). All sales will be handled through the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts. BLCA will retain 30%, with the artist receiving 70% on sales. Proceeds from sales will be remitted to the artist within 30 days of the end of the exhbition.

Insurance:
Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts carries $25,000 worth of insurance on the exhibition as a whole. Additional insurance, if desired, is the responsibility of the artist. Insurance on work in transit is also the responsibility of the artist.
