I was born in Peru, South America in April of 1954. My parents both carry a mixture of blood. My father was born in Hong Kong, China, and my grandfather was a Portuguese descendant, born in Macao. My mother was the daughter of a Chinese merchant from Canton, China. Her mother was a Chilean descendent of Spanish immigrants. This combination makes me the authentic endangered Chino Latino

During my early years I participated in numerous artistic events and presentations. I won quite a few ribbons and diplomas, some I still carry after decades because I may some day make an interesting collage.

In the late seventies and early eighties I did some portrait work on commission, these were my years in New York. Later, I returned to Peru and became involved with the artistic community. I Entered a contest sponsored by a financial institution and won first prize with a work on Ink and color pencil titled “Llaquiska” (Lone City). In the same contest, I won second price with a work on charcoal and oil pastels titled “Caballo sin Nombre” (Horse with no name) which was inspired by American southwestern art.

During the nineties, I became part of the work force and raised my two children. It was the dark ages for me In terms of art. I joined for a brief period the MN Calligraphers Guild and moved from ink to calligraphy on wood. The cheerfulness of a nice group of people was inspirational.

During the late nineties and early two thousands my interest shifted to poetry, I wrote more than hundred poems and posted on a web site under a Synonym of Antonio M. Amigo, still my literary name. In this same period I started Macro Photography, and fell in love with everything my lens could catch, flowers, architectural shoots, landscape and candid pictures.

In the most recent years I turned my photography into a serious vehicle for my inspiration. My photos have more intensity and my shoots are more flavorful. Digital Photography has allowed art to catch up with the vertigo-causing speed at which we live. And the world doesn’t seem to stop for sitting models.
