I was so grateful to shadow Cloud Cult at First Ave. Minneapolis MN, for their May performance. I was able to shoot the band the entire day, and backstage during their performance. I have a large collection from that event, such an honor for sure.
After graduation from Bethlehem Academy in 94' I went on to college at Saint Mary's Univ. of MN. I majored in fine art until I transferred to AI of MN and graduated at the top of my class in 98' with an Applied Science Degree of Multi Media. My first job was working for DoubleTake Art Gallery managing their emerging artists. With in the year, I packed a bag and was off to NYC with $100 and a suitcase.
Upon arrival I began work for a .Com company in Soho, as a web designer and join the "Woman's Art League of NYC". When "EZCD.com" met it's demise I then started with my favorite 9-5 job I've ever had, at DietSmart.com, and continued to participate in group showing with my Art League.
From 2000-2008 I worked in House for InstallShield, then went on to freelance working with several high profile clients developing branding and and various marketing materials.
In 2008 I decided to focus on my fine art abilities exclusively (ahhh what a delight to be home!).
Currently I am working with photography, and just had an opening in June 09' at Woodland Art Gallery, with great success. Now that my show is completed, I am focusing my time and my what with be my Life's Work, from hear on out.
I have nearly completed my proposal to gain funding for "Fear Cage". An interactive installation, consisting of 5 "attractions". Each piece (attraction) will serve as an event in the life time of a sexually abused woman, beginning with a first person perspective of the child during an attack.
The show "Fear Cage" will be the first show in a three part series.
Along with preparing for my next show, I am also an activist to prevent and protect woman and children who have been affected by sexual abuse. I am currently working with my community to create a program that can be used in the school systems to better address and identify children whom are affected by abuse. Additionally, I am looking forward to being part of a group in my community to heal survivors, using my work as an artist as a tool in the healing process.
