BIOGRAPHY: Annie Hejny is an emerging visual artist from Mahtomedi, Minnesota. Hejny intentionally explores the pockets of buildings, streets and communities, which become the inspiration for her highly saturated paintings. She observes how urban landscapes, here in the Twin Cities, echo the intersection between humans and the environment at large.
In addition to creating her own artwork, Hejny is a co-founder of a collaborative art project called PAINT. She partners with university service organizations to integrate canvas painting into the student programs, fostering compassion between the communities. The PAINT project was founded in 2010.
In 2012, Hejny graduated from the University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University with a double-major B.A. in Elementary Education and Studio Art, respectively. She currently lives and works in St. Paul.
