Exhibitions/Performance History
Jim Latimer is the author of eight children's books, including FOX UNDER FIRST BASE, which THE NEW YORK TIMES called "unusually funny." A linguist and storyteller, Jim has taught in several universities and performed across the country with several acclaimed musicians, including Laura MacKenzie, Diane Tremaine, Nathan Hanson, and Martin Hayes. Jim's school and library visits blend stories and music and can include assorted writng and music experiences, depending on the collaborator. Workshops address a variety of topics, including child language and cognition, folk and fairy tales. Books for author appearances are available at the publisher's discount.
Jim has performed at the Music Pier in Ocean City and The Convention Hall on Cape May; at Eeyore's in New York and A Claen Well-Lighted Place in Marin; at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and The Children's Museum in St. Paul; and at venues in Austin, Fargo, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Omaha, Lansing, and The District of Columbia, among many others. During the day Jim restores and repairs old books and makes new fine press and limited edition books by hand.
