Artist Statement:
Art is therapeutic in a way that therapy is not. Art has its own method of dealing with real life issues that sometimes are often hard to express in words. I use art as a way to deal with complications and troubles that consume my life. I am inspired completely by my emotions and the feelings I keep hidden deep inside that I am sometimes hesitant to let surface. The photographs reveal just a sliver of intimate information to the viewer, not allowing them in completely. I use tight, closely cropped photographs of a nude female figure to express the fragility, and vulnerability of the human form. The art I create takes on a dark and eerie side, while keeping the beautiful composition.
I am able to capture that desolate, eerie feeling with a completely different subject matter; one of the paranormal state. There’s no feeling in the world like knowing something is there that we perceive as not being there. Ghosts and the paranormal have been an inspiration to me during a time of loss, sadness, and confusion. I let go and let the blanket of creative envelope me. Art allows me to control the chaos of me.
