Hi Everyone,

The exhibition of Chicano art at the Weisman Art Museum opened recently and has been receiving a lot of attention. One of its participants, our own Jaime Longoria, has initiated a number of discussions on Chicano art and artists in these forums both as himself and as part of his Coyote project. In conjunction with the exhibition, we are consolidating threads initiated by Jaime and about Coyote to highlight the important questions and dilemmas raised by Chicano artists.

Jaime,

I know you've discussed the Coyote project from a number of angles in these forums. But, I am curious about its origins and your choice of timing. I've found it exciting, irritating, and bit slippery to manage as the moderator of these forums. Tell us a bit more about your intention and how you understand its development.

Thank you very much Colin. And thank you to the Walker and the McKnight Foundation for making this possible. You do much to diminish the effects of Minnesota Nice Racism and advance the investigation of Art as and area of multicultural communication.
