Only give us what the application is asking for. If you send three pages of a plan instead of two the third one will be tossed. Remember to proof read your application.

Be straight forward in your application narrative. Get as good of an example of your work as possible. Let a friend read your application *(proof read and read for understandability) is that a word?

And remember call us or send an e mail if you have a question.

Never forget the three A;s of fundraising and grantspersonship...Ask, Ask Again, and Ask Again Another time. If you don't get it the first time, call us, talk about it and apply the next year.

Thanks for the reply re: posting successful apps online. I hope it happens someday, and in the meantime will make an appointment to come in. Another question - do you believe it's advantageous to frame current work as a "project"? Example: I will be starting a new body of work for a big show in May 2005. Should Ii frame that as a project or simply as my ongoing work within my personal career development. Does either approach have an edge?

Thanks for doing this by the way - great idea and such an efficient way to communicate.

Hi everyone,

It's 8pm. Shall we wrap it up. Thanks so much to Amy and Bob for taking the time to be with us tonight. And thanks to everyone who stopped by to ask questions and to read. Amy and Bob, would you be willing to stop by briefly tomorrow in case there are a few more questions?

Colin

Also please remember, when you are talking to any one running for public office...Ask them about their support of the Arts, both here in MN and in Washington

We have $10 million in the house right now in DC and need to get it matched by the senate. That will bring additional resources to MN

We currently as a state tap the NEA for the third highest amount to any state in the country just behind New York and California

In the spirit of asking and asking again, can you comment on the development of a business plan to market ones work as eligible for a grant? The idea being that one shows to a certain point and then needs to go take the next step in getting their work recognized.

Camille how does this work relate to your career. What will be the impact of the work on your career? Remeber this grant is geared toward professional development of the individual and not about the kind of project the individual will be doing

A business plan is eligible for a grant but as I stated previously you have to have a strong case why it is important for you at this time.

I would say that you just have to make the case that the costs and efforts on a business plan will pay off in building your career. It sometimes is an easier case to make in some disciplines than others. But I believe it is valid in all areas and disciplines.
