Strange what you find when you "google" for Chicano?
I think we need to continue the "Dialogue" in a larger context than just one "Artist's" struggle with the great invisible demon, Minnesota Nice Racism.

To the MAEP people who are gunning for me tomorrow. Please review the Posting in the Dialogue.
Follow the back and forth strings. I think you will be surprised at the quality of the thoughts expressed here. I am very proud of the Dialogue as it has lead to the creation of the concept for a show of Minnesota Mediocre Art. The process of its definition is contained in the very same people who would participate in such a show. They are unafraid of true controversy and will provide a future of open discussion on Art in Minnesota.

And it works well!

Perhaps not so strange with growing familiarity (of reality), but wonderous would still apply. And definitely, I am thankful reality exists and is working properly.

I'm currently experiencing a Renaissance* in learning to do what I've long worked, desired and planned for. A quickening phase in which I work with some of the most excellent new media researchers in the world.

*French for rebirth, this was a period following the dark ages characterized by intense revival and a radical development in all areas of science, arts, politics, literature, learning, architecture.
A revival of the Classical influence and vigorous aesthetic and intellectual activities. In architecture, the revival of Greek and Roman architectural principles and their reinterpretation. The music was characterized by the use of freer forms, and a progression from modes toward harmony.
This was also an age of humanism, optimism, and reform.

Followed by the Enlightenment.

And now for the rebirth of an "Idea".

I would propose a show of one image from each Artist ever refused for the MAEP. The Show would be currated by a panel of the people that have spent the most time on this forum post. They would chose one image from every artist and design a projection/viewing medium to present each "losing" Artist. This idea is copy right 2005

What do you guys think?

I like the idea of running the 3 month coffee shop @ empty Walker office, with Gabe, and hanging art we like.

You have a hit on your hands there.

I*m just a little chime here after reading all the flow of 3 days past.

I*m going to make some new art for Acadia (Stevens Square) consisting of the soap factory windows (dated from the 1800's) and my own digital photos inside.
Then i*m tied up thru the 4th.

But I do like your MAEP idea too. It would be performed inside the M.I.A right?
Or do they like huge EXTERIOR PROJECTIONS?
To "re-skin" the outside may require fewer permissions. So then it becomes, who cares what "they" like - This is whats happening.

Perhaps it would also be a good idea to create a thread here on "Articles as read by Artists" and connect the old thread here, of course we would invite and welcome everyone regardless of "color" or tongue.

I like this Idea R.R., would you consider it for real?

yes sir. Requires content, one vehical with dual outlet power inverter, 1 projector and 1 laptop.
Also, 1 Driver and 1 equipment operator/documentarian.

or do you reference the other ideas in that post?

This seems like a good place to interject that HOLLAND school in northeast minneapolis, IN THE ARTS DISTRICT, has been vacated due to budget cuts and has only received 2 pre-proposals for alternate re-use. There is some real opertunity there for creative development.
I went to that school when I was a kid.
The simplest thing I can come up with right now is for NECDC to hold a temporary exhibition of the building by inviting artists into the classrooms, and using the gym as a show space. It's still being heated, even though no one is there.

Hey, lets do some projection art?
