Many of the artists talked of the importance of doing art post-Sept 11th and because of the presence of violence and war worldwide.

Musician Nicolas Carter said that he felt that music was the hope for the future, with more musicians we would have fewer soldiers. Can we say that art is our hope for peace?

What would you say to artists such as Emmanuel Ortiz and Meena Natarajan who speak to the importance of knowing our history, who say that peace is not just the absence of conflict but is only possible if justice comes first?

I do have to agree on that art is our future to avoid conflicts. I think nurturing your artistic abilities makes you more creative in terms of making a choice in our lives especially in time of potential conflicts. Art also is a powerful venue to understand and embrace differences among us. Justice and peace are also interrelated issues. In order to archive the true meaning of peace, justice needs to be present in society.
