Happy 1000th post Colin! What is "tech rehearsal"? Just short for technical? Have you ever done any motion capture dance work? Thats what I thought of when I read Tech rehhearsal. As an innovative dancer, you may be interested in whats going on at the U of Geneva, MiraLab. I asume you are on a fast connection so here is a performance from 98 when they still used wires for motion capture http://www.miralab.unige.ch//4multimedia/multimedia_films_show.cfm?filetype=mpgsmall&file=Cyberdance_sm_Pt1.mpg&filmid=Cyberdance&filmtype=Live%20Show&mimage=cyberdanceS.jpg&year=1998&pl=1
They have a better, newer one using better tech for freedom of movement, but I can find it just now. Hunt if you are interested.
Jill, it's a pretty good book. Richard Seddon was a lecturer in art history and liberal studies at the College of Technology and Art High Wycombe, and the Director of Sheffield City Art Galleries. The book teaches that art collecting was once the pleasure of only wealthy folk but now it is for everyone. It gos into how to collect from auctions and dealers, about pricing, conservation and display, restoration. It teaches on what to collect, going into the qualities of old master oil paintings, panel paintings, illuminated manuscripts, old master drawings and prints, early english water colors, Contemporary oils, waters, drawings and prints, oriental art and smalll sculptures. Then gos into how to detect fakes and forgeries.
I haven't read it all but it is very readable. I will scan a few pages of the intro for your reading enjoyment......
