Don't give up so easily. Search for the published description of the Ryan proposal and take note that "artists" housing is in the picture. Also note that the Hispan, Somali and other non- white communities are being "alotted" "market venues" that should provide a neat safe place for the outer ring commuters to "lunch" and "shop" in a unique"color" setting( a sanitized ghetto). You could offer to organize a "stall" based Artisty "farmers" market to go along with "artists" housing. Ray; it would be a good idea for the Soap factory to think ahead to the day they are expelled from the "caverns" to make way for more "artsy style" living( starting only at $200,000.00 range). They would funding for the administration of such a venue given thier track record of success. It will be very hard for them to continue the good work without a building-they are setting on "gold" and can expect to have it yanked right out from under them any moment some developer can get himself cheap money( it has never been cheaper) favorable zoning( RT endorses re-urbanization) and a will market-( the retirees with the mullah are the revenue base for growing theater Art scene. They should plan to relocate.

On a serious note here; it would be ideal to influence the way the plan goes. The politics were always about money. Allina gets "corporate welfare" to turn the "tower" into a beachhead for the "re-urbanization"(read white home owners over renters of color) of the Lake Street Barrio/Ghetto. White artists could do very well with the powers that be by setting up a year round "Artists Market". It would be a net gain to the promotion of the area to have "art" for sale right there!
Things to note: the Calhoun Square has been sold. The new managers will want to look at "marketing" concepts- a huge draw for the area is the annual Art Fair. As the surrounding communities are emptied of African Americans with their "reduced" earning power new "urban pioneers" will be able to wrestle the $250,00.00 homes away from the current occupants and harvest the "growth" on property values as the area becomes gentrified. Remember, it is "gentrified people" that buy art. Not people of color and poverty.

Call the public relations person at Ryan and pitch the idea of a "Artists Market Place". As art space disappears in Saint Paul and in the warehouse district Artists will need a "place" to meet the "art crawlers".

Buy me coffee and I will give the rest of the plan I had developed for the space if the "money" had not won.

Ray you need to go to Intermedia Arts and get in on the Art in the Sears building. They will conrtrol what goes in there.

Disavow me; IM hates the Coyote.

Congratulations on getting to talk at the Wise Man Tin Cup! Get paid my friend. And do say meaningful things; not just theusual pratter of the techno- arties; "gee wizz" art is doomed much like fireworks in china.

Thanks, I just realized how huge it was when I looked at the A-10-dance lists of the previous few years. Every large arts organization in Minneapolis has representation there. All the departments i'm interested in. And then theres the international community. I guess they come from all over the world to this MINERVA deal.

It's kind of...REAL.

I'll be talking about technology research as relates to the Art Gallery Simulators I will be catalyzing into exsistance. Hopfully I can inspire the next generation of new media content creation this year.

It should be meaningfull. I'll ask for a stipend. Or maybe a lucky investor can help me start up my industry revolutionizing game company. Think Atari in the 80's.
