The Art of This One-Nighter Series is pleased to present an experimental installation organized by local emeging artist Isa Newby Gagarin. This event, September Sounds from a Silver Shape,
brings together music performances by the artist and others, a
sculptural performance space, and audience participation to create a
phenomenological experience. Inspired by artists such as Dan Graham and
1970's pop musicians, Gagarin will construct a silver shape in the
center of the gallery inside which artists will perform. This space and
strategy seeks to challenge conventional notions of performance and
spectacle by forcing both artist and audience to mediate the role place
by the sculpture, itself a perfomer. Musicians scheduled to perform
from within the Silver Shape include Gagarin and Rachel Blomgren (Tête
a Tête), Aby Wolf, Tynan Kerr, Jackie Becky and Emily Atchinson.
