Guess who's coming to Elk River this holiday season? (And HE's not happy about it.)
Welcome to Elk River, Minnesota, home of theElks, a dozen lakes and one crotchety old miser named Ebenezer Scrooge.
Scrooge is the proprietor of a Scrooge & Marley Property Management, Ltd, on downtown Main Street. When he's not counting his properties or evicting delinquent renters, Scrooge scowls and rants at his good-hearted clerk, Bob Cratchit.
But on the best of all days of the year, Christmas Even, Scrooge is given a chance to redeem his misspent life when he's visited by three spirits. The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present (Jolly Old St. Nick) and Yet To Come take him on a midnight journey, in hopes of thawing his chilly heart with thewarmth of human kindness--before it's too late.
The Elk River Area Arts Alliance hosts this original stage production, adapted for Elk River by Minneapolis-based radio play troupe Deadbeats On The Air. "An Elk River Christmas Carol" is an home to old-time radio and the joys of the yuletide season, with live music, live sound effects, humor, holiday magic and lots of Christmas carol singing.
