FAST Fest 2012

The Minnesota Association of Community Theatres presents its fourth biennial short play festival, FAST Fest, to be held June 16th in Lakeville. After two years in St Cloud and one in Alexandria, and by popular request, FAST Fest is coming to the Twin Cities metro area.

The location will be the Lakeville Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Ave Lakeville, MN 55044, a converted church in downtown Lakeville. This festival of short (20 minute maximum) plays will feature many original scripts.

There will be at least 10 theatres participating this year. MACT will provide a table and four chairs for use by the theatres. Each theatre can bring one additional set piece plus whatever hand props and costumes they need. There are no rehearsals on the stage. There is only basic area lighting, no specials. We will also provide basic sound playback equipment (a CD player). Each theatre will have 5 minutes to set up, 20 minutes to perform and 5 minutes to strike.

Each performance will be followed by a short colloquy lead by Julianna Skluzacek for the afternoon session and Mona Poehling for the evening session. The comments from the audience and supportive environment make this is a great opportunity to workshop a new play or scene from a play. In the past there have been many original scripts presented at this festival.

With 10 theatres registered, there will be 2 sessions of 5 shows each. The afternoon session will start at 1:00 PM and should be over by 5:00. The evening session will start at 7:00 PM. After the evening session join everyone for networking and light snacks (cash bar available). See the MACT website (www.mact.net) for registration information.
