Founded in 1989, Youth Performance Company (YPC) is rich in character and commitment to serving young artists, young audiences, and the community. YPC's mission is dedicated to igniting and fuelling the artistic spirit of youth by developing, empowering and advancing young

artists. YPC works towards this mission by targeting excellence in theatre performance, arts education, and diversified youth-centered programming which promotes artistic quality, arts advocacy, self-determination, leadership,

volunteerism and community service, facilitated by a professionally staffed theatre arts organization.

The well defined elements of YPC include its distinctive empowerment principle and high standards of artistic excellence, which especially

attracts artists in the distinct age range of 14-22. YPC is deeply rooted in the belief that professional standards of excellence can be applied to

young artists. YPC artists are given the freedom to soar, and sometimes fail, by stressing responsible behavior, professional discipline, academic achievement, and a commitment to artistic risk. As a result, YPC develops and advances artists, raises audiences' critical standards of youth performance and mentors the future leaders of our community. Youth Performance Company is confident an experience with the company influences artists towards action-oriented leadership, if not as professional artists, than community builders in some other arena.
