Hello, I want to introduce myself. My name is Kathleen Kvern and I'm the new Project Director for mnartists.org. I'm thrilled and honored to be in this position.
mnartists.org is an important resource and an innovative on-line community for artists and art enthusiasts as well as anyone else who stops by. The number of artists registered on the site, the quantity and quality of work represented, as well as the volume of site visits everyday is impressive.
My responsibilities and focus in the next year and beyond will be to promote and foster mnartists leadership role and reputation, continue to develop and implementing off and on-line strategies to expand site awareness and participation, assess and respond to artists needs, evaluating and develop web site enhancements, and develop communication plans and marketing efforts. Nobody said anything about having fun...but I'll toss that in too.
With support from the mnartist.org team, Colin Rusch, Ann Klefstad and Will Goldstein (who have been the foundation of the site) along with The Walker Art Center and The McKnight Foundation, I am confident we will realize these goals. It should also be noted that the collaborative efforts of The McKnight Foundation and The Walker Art Center in bringing this site to reality (virtual as it is) is nothing short of monumental.
My background is in business development and my passion is in the art world. I'm an arts enthusiast, art collector and have served on the board of several local arts organizations.
I thought an introduction through one of the unique features of mnartists.org would be an appropriate start. My collection is designed around some of the Minnesota artists that I currently know. To create the collection I entered the artists name in the search field then selected an image/forum/article I liked or felt represented them. Many of the artists I'm proud to know are registered on mnartists.org. This collection is a work in progress and I hope to add to the artists I know.
