Multiples Mall: A Bookish Fair
In conjunction with the exhibition Text/Messages: Books by Artists, Minnesota artists who make book-related multiples set up shop at the Walker for a day of merriment, complete with short presentations on the history of chapbooks, radical reasons for making multiples, and more! Text/Messages: Books by Artists
Examining artists’ use of the book as medium, material, and subject, this exhibition features works drawn from the Walker’s library and permanent collection. On view are deluxe illustrated editions as well as volumes that are sculptural, multidimensional, or made from unconventional materials. This broad variety of examples showcases a thriving area of artistic invention.
