The SCJO is a civic jazz orchestra whose mission is to provide opportunities for jazz musicians to perform high quality big band jazz in their home community, to promote appreciation for jazz, and to inspire young jazz musicians in the St. Croix Valley. The artistic goals of this project are to: &#8226; Provide high quality jazz music in concert format in a variety of easily accessible (to audiences) locations &#8226; Offer our musicians the opportunity to work together as some are professional musicians, some are instructors, and some are students &#8226; Offer the opportunity to work with musical guests - vocalist Judy Donaghy, the High School Jazz Ensemble, and Music St. Croix &#8226; Offer our community the opportunity to learn about jazz in a classroom setting through a free community education class, both the historical and functional components of jazz as an artistic media. &#8226; Introduce new audience members who come to our collaborative concerts (with the schools and Music St Croix) to jazz <br/> Mon, 29 Dec 2008 15:51:48 GMT ArtReach Alliance
