A temporary name to hold together various creative endeavors between Jason Burnstein and friends.Shows that have been created under this umbrella include Umba Umbra and Time to Play!.Why "aga"Warmth, communal gathering, movement and sustainabilty.Aga Theatre Lab takes its name from a traditional cast iron stove used primarily in Europe. These four principles are the cornerstones of our beliefs. We hope to create communal events full of love and warmth, letting people walk away feeling better than when they arrived. Our work is rooted in the teachings of Jacques Lecoq paased down to us from master teacher Thomas Prattki. This western european theatre training combined with our various experiences in eastern philosophy and martial arts has given us the tools to create dynamic theatre which is always rooted in a strong sense of physicality and play. Finally, we aknowledge the importance of our planet. We recognize our responsibility to care for it and to reach out to others to share in that vission.<br/>

We Are Ugly But We Have the Music

They're a rag-tag bunch of cabaret performers. They do dramatic acts, comedy acts and most importantly, acts of romance... but life on the road is hard. And after 10 years together, the worst possible news spreads within the group... and their beloved troupe leader is missing. Something drastic has happened, but the show must go on. A broken-hearted cabaret full of love, loss and accidents. Stand-by and watch, as the whole thing falls apart."We Are Ugly But We Have the Music" is a colorful new play by Jon Ferguson, director and co-creator of the 2005 Minnesota Fringe Festival hit, Please Don't Blow Up Mr. Boban (Outstanding Experimental Production of the Year - Star Tribune; 2005 Artist of the Year - City Pages). We Are Ugly But We Have the Music is a highly visual and physical work. At times it is outrageously funny, at others times, disturbingly dark. For this new production Jon Ferguson is collaborating with an ensemble of highly skilled actors/creators with extensive physical theater experience: Jason Burnstein, Tyson Forbes, Markell Keifer, Kimberly Richardson, Sara Richardson, 10-year-old Piper Sigel-Bruse and fellow 2005 City Pages Artist of the Year, Noah Bremer. Singer-songwriter Pablo, who was chosen as City Pages' Best Acoustic Performer of 1999, provides live music, featuring original songs and new arrangements.
WOVEN

WOVEN was an original "theatre as rock concert" show conceived by Noah Harpster. Jason Burnstein was a founding member of the show and of the company formed to produce the show. Below is a blurb from old press material:WOVEN puts the celebration back into theater. In an era when theatre has lost much of its popular appeal, WOVEN seeks to recapture a younger generation by giving them a fast paced, visceral experience that combines rocking live music with a group of talented, innovative performers. Audiences return night after night in the hopes of seeing their favorites from the ever growing list of WOVEN pieces. Whether it is the suspense, the laughter, the grooves, or the fun community that WOVEN provides, audiences continue to rave about this unique and unforgettable experience.WOVEN toured internationally in 2000 winning several awards and great press along the way.WOVEN was produced by Mango Productions, LLC. Mango Productions was formed in 1999 as a means to produce WOVEN and other high energy events. The founding members were Jason Burnstein, Noah Harpster and Jon Lichtenstein.<br/>

Mango Productions, LLC

Mango Propductions was formed in 1999 as a means to produce the theatre/rock show, WOVEN. The founding members of Mango Productions were Noah Harpster, Jason Burnstein and Jon Lichtenstein. They were later joined by Keith Baker and Brian Dickerson. After it's inception it went on to produce numerous other events including a five week long theatre and music festival in Santa Barbara, Califorina called Mango Fest. Woven headlined the event with five weeks of sold out shows. There were also original works by seven different theatre companies featuring world class juggler Jay Gilligan, local theater artists, and innovative out of town acts from Los Angeles, Houston and MInneapolis. Music events includied an all day outdoor concert with local bands, and an evening with The Yonder Mountain String Band, a popular blue grass band from Colorado. The company dissolved in 2002. A sad but necesary stage of development for all the original memebers. Basically, it was time to move on....which we all did.<br/>
