Set in Jomon-era (aka really ancient) Japan, a little girl eagerly assists a group of animal spirits with their bizarre scientific experiments. Rendered in charcoal on Bristol board. I wanted an excuse to draw the characters of a tentative project called "Soft Earth." Set in the late 22nd century, it follows the crew of a rundown scientific ship which traverses the Pacific, which massive quakes have turned from an ocean to an unpredictable shifting mass, home to billions of nomads, including Sho (little boy in the suit) and Tumei (in middle) a mysterious girl found in the middle of no-mans-land.
