Spent about 45m watching sparrows in union square. this one is that 45m of work and probably around 30 birds. the tail should be going the other way. oh well. also wrote some poems.

Such an Insomniac

Of my entire comic, i think the panel i enjoyed drawing most was panel 4 of the last page. Later when looking at it i realized she looked rather gazelle-like. I've never really been able to shake that idea. laaaate late at night i started this and since "fireflies" by owl city gets stuck in my head like barbed wire, I couldn't stop humming it. I realize now I got the lyrics wrong (correct is "because i feel like such an insomniac), but i freaking love this picture. P.S. that lower right corner bugs me, but i'm to lazy to re-scan.

the anatomy is WAAAY off. didn't sketch at all, just jumped into it. first time painting on wood. i really love the normal colors of it, it scanned AWFULLY. maybe i'll take a picture of it later. used some old somewhat crappy, generic watercolors i didn't know i had. around 3 inches square

Oh my word. I don't know where this came from. Thinking of cell shading (even though there isn't much), bold black lines, goats, and courage the cowardly dog, i suppose. Was supposed to be teaching my brother how to paint, but he wandered off just after the base coat. Had to play around with it in photoshop a bit to get the colors close to what they are in real life.

the only page that isn't in blue pencil. I want to have this comic be sort of open ended with no due date. i want to have every page have at least as much detail as this one. (even though i feel like the upper panels, especially the last, are sort of cop-outs.) Had ZERO inspiration but really needed to draw (something for school) and I wanted to do a warm up first. The whole time I was drawing this that quote kept running through my head. My friend was drawing the clock at grand central and some bum came up and said this. I have no idea what he looked like, but i her impression of him.
