Situated in some of the most exciting dance communities in the country: ODC Theater in San Francisco, Velocity Dance Center in Seattle, Philadelphia Dance Projects and in Minneapolis, first at the Southern Theater and this year at Patrick's Cabaret in Minneapolis. SCUBA is a National Endowment for the Arts funded program with national recognition. Founded by artists, and artist driven, SCUBA's primary purpose is to provide an entry point to professional touring for locally-established, nationally-emerging dance artists in order to experience the touring model and begin to build a national base. Using physical exchanges, dialogue, and dance to walk the delicate line between the sincere and the synthetic. In the process, the performers concoct emotion and conjure meaningful interpersonal relationships as they vie for the title of Emotional Genius.

Davies' Work Party is so funny, and executed with such conviction and split-second timing by the cast... that I would have gone for the rewind button if I could have. - Lightsey Darst, mnartists.org

Angharad Davies is an award-winning dancer, choreographer, and teacher, recently relocated to Minneapolis from Berlin, Germany.
2012 - James Sewell Ballet at the Cowles Center

Nearly two decades later, critically acclaimed James Sewell Ballet performances move and delight audiences across the country. The embodiment of the original vision of a professional company of eight dancers performing innovative work that explore the technical boundaries of ballet still exists today. Opus 131, set to Beethoven’s seminal work, is the centerpiece of the springprogram. JSB’s ongoing collaboration with The Schubert Clubunites the brilliant, Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet with the virtuosic dancers in what The New York Times calls a rich, fanciful masterpiece. The second half of the program pushes the creative frontier with a world premiere by James Sewell that leads to the nexus between Argentine tango, ballet and contact improvisation. The Cowles Center 528 Hennepin Avenue • Minneapolis, MN 55403 612.206.3600 (box office) Tickets: $16-32 April 13-14 & 20-21, 8pm April 15 & 22, 2pm Tickets: $10 April 21, 11am
