Almost Exactly Like Us
by Alan Berks
directed by Matt Sciple
featuring Anthony Brown, Emily Gunyou, Peter Hansen and Shannon Rusten
Gremlin Theatre has teamed with local playwright and 2003-2004 Jerome fellow Alan Berks (Thirst Theatre) to develop and present this world premiere play.
If you were thrust into a foreign world, what would you do? How would you change? Who would you be? Filled with sharp dialogue and set amidst ever-shifting realities that make it at times part thriller, part love story, part war story; this play explores a universe where what unites us and divides us is almost exactly the same.
FEBRUARY 24 - MARCH 19, 2006
Fridays & Saturdays: 8pm
Sundays: 2pm
"If there is one constant in Alan M. Berks' new play 'Almost Exactly Like Us,' it is that nothing is what it seems and no one is exactly who they say they are. It's an intriguing rollercoaster that sets its audience up and knocks it down over and over again."
- Lisa Brock, Star Tribune
" offers dream-like visions of what it's like to be foreign, lost, endangered and in love. He draws no conclusions. And that's exactly why the play is psychologically so engaging, and so great."
- Christy Desmith, Pioneer Press
"What stands out here is how the actors steer a heady work from its potential excesses. ...unites a beating heart to the infinite texture of the universe. It's not just the end of the play that the audience has to swallow, but the end of the world."
- Quinton Skinner, City Pages
