8 - 8:30 AM Opening and Start with the Arts: Mary Harding, Dance Faculty with Perpich Center for Arts Education facilitates a performance with youth dancers from Perpich Center Arts High School, Apple Valley High School and Southwest High School.

Eric Jensen is a leading author, educator and researcher in the area of the brain and learning. Eric will share his thoughts and insights on the research relating to impact of the arts on student learning and achievement. Eric will focus on what the research really tells us and how much arts learning is needed to change the brain. Mr. Jensen has authored 22 books on various topics relating to the brain and student learning.

Ms Larsen will share her perspectives as an active composer and also share why she believes that creativity is so important for young people today.
