Statement

The subject of this watercolor refers to a Finnish-American folk cure for seasonal affective disorder (SAD) that involves bathing with grasses and herbs. The leaves in this painting are Labrador Tea (Rhododendron groenlandicum), collected from a Black Spruce bog on the shores of the Stony River, near Isabella, Minnesota.

My style has been variously classified as; visionary art, fantanstic realism, fantasy, surrealism, magical realism, female allegorical, or religous art. I was born in Austria, raised in Italy, and currently reside in Minneapolis, MN (USA). This piece - and much of my work - was heavily influenced by my exposure to Italian life and art (especially the Italian masters of the Baroque Period).
