“The Annunciation” is a seven foot bronze statue of the Virgin Mary, commissioned by the Church of the Annunciation. The sculpture is representational with contemporary styling. It depicts Mary at the moment of the Annunciation. She is portrayed as an active participant in the events unfolding before her, a woman who is assertive and moving forward. Through the gesture of her hands she is both internalizing the responsibility of the Incarnation and engaging the viewer. The sculpture stands in front of the main entrance of the church and was scaled for the site.
