The Mexican Day of The Dead, America's Halloween and the Chinese New Year, these spiritually charged days are believed to be the gateways between the land of the living and the dead. The connection between these two worlds is the genesis for this work.

Myths, legends and folklore transmit cultural information from one generation to the next via symbols and language. Within the written and oral traditions of cultures throughout the globe, are universally recognized images or concepts known as archetypes. My most recent work explores these archetypes with the intention to not only bridge my cultural background but to also carry meaning to a number of many different individuals from various cultural heritages.

My work has evolved from a focus on predominantly two-dimensional drawing to embrace sculptural elements, incorporating electronic lighting and kinetic systems. Currently, I am focusing on synthesizing my draughtsmanship background with sculptural concepts, refining my scope of interest to create large three-dimensional drawings using shallow relief with intricate electronic kinetic systems.
