Enhanced 9-1-1 Is There to Protect Your Home

Not that many years ago, people had to search for the right number in an emergency. Police, fire and medical services each had its own seven-digit number, and to find the right one in a hurry could be exasperating, not to mention confusing.

NorthStar Access’ Enhanced 9-1-1 takes away the confusion. Help is only three digits away. When you call 9-1-1, your phone number and address are automatically transmitted to the dispatcher’s computer screen. The dispatcher can then quickly assess your situation and hurry emergency services to your door. No more riffling through phone books.

A house is one of the biggest investments of your life. Naturally, you do everything you can to keep it safe—installing fire alarms, testing batteries, checking electrical connections and stowing flammable liquids in a safe place.

But if a fire should occur, it’s nice to have Enhanced 9-1-1 on your side. Once everyone is safe and accounted for, a call from your cordless house phone will immediately transmit your name, address and phone number to local dispatch. (NOTE: If you need to use a neighbor’s phone or a cellular phone, you will have to provide this information.)

Whatever the circumstance, you should be able to describe your location so emergency units can respond. This might mean giving directions to a hard-to-locate address or describing which arm of a shared driveway is yours. Street addresses should be visible from the road.

Your house is more than architecture. It is your home, the place where you gather with family and build lifelong memories. Though you may never need it, NorthStar Access’ Enhanced 9-1-1 is there for you. It saves you time when quick-acting can save your home.
