Our CMW watercolor organization President issued a challenge to paint a painting with only one red and one blue pigment.
So I researched my file for a wonderful series of photo's I had taken of a neighbor coming over to talk to me. She is one who also uses great body language.
I had just loved her cute outfit and hat too! RED it is!
And the clothing colors fit right into the theme of this challenge.
All the colors in this painting are made from one red and one blue pigment. They are mostly mixed on the paper.
Isn't it amazing what the eye can do with lights and darks, no matter the color?

This portrait recieved 2nd place in the Advanced Painter cathegory for peer voting at the Northstar Watercolor meeting 3/2007. I heard nice comments on it.

"A visit from Mary" was also entered in a Minnesota Artists Association Spring Show at the Robbin Gallery, Robbinsdale.

I have now changed the paintings name to "The Lady in Red".
