Statement

Artist’s Statement:
In my art, I try to capture those little moments of beauty. I draw inspiration from my surroundings: Cloud formations, water, the moon over the horizon, a cityscape and my dreams. My art reminds me to slow down and take notice of these little moments.

I enjoy painting abstract landscapes and find the early evening and predawn’s darkest hours most inspiring.

The collage work I do is based on the idea that every detail is important to the whole. I build these collages from over 100 matchbooks. I find each of these little pieces incredible on their own.

The robots and ghosts are part of a larger idea called, “My Invisible Friends.” These small pieces are fun for me to work on, and even more enjoyable to watch people’s reactions to them.

Almost all of my materials, down to the nails I build my frames with are found, salvaged and/or recycled. I’m bothered by the amount of waste our consumer culture creates, particularly my own.
