This collage contains the Circle of Life and a cross. They represent the continuation of life beyond what we know. The water shape is Lake Calhoun, a lake I live near and is a center of a lot of outdoor activities. It's was appropriate, because water creates and sustains life throughout the world, and Lake Calhoun connects people within my specific community. The wood disc the collage is built on is stained a blood red, which represents the blood of Christ and all who sacrifice for others. The silver is the crown Christ wears, and it's nailed down with rugged, unfinsihed nails reminding us of the crown of thorns. The flowers, reminiscent of Mexican shrines, are in celebration of the forgiveness we're given through Christ's life and death. The single flower at the bottom has six petals to represent a six-pointed star which is the Creator's star, or the symbol of creation. At the center is a picture of Jesus, because it is through him that all people, regardless of race, are united, blessed and equal.
