The Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community has their Tribal Office/Community Center in Mendota, MN. Mendota is a small village of less than 200 residents at the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers. There are many ceremonies and events that take place at the office or up the street at the St. Peters Catholic Church grounds. MMDC has an annual 'Welcome Home' powwow in August, as well as inipi (sweat lodge) ceremonies, crafting classes, Dakota language classes and many more events. MMDC moved from their previous location 1 block up the road a couple years ago to this quaint house next to Axel's restaurant.
