This rhythmically disjointed piece plays to the liminal state between dream and awake, as influenced by an alarm clock. There is a one-to-one correlation between my alarm clock sounding and the one-note rhythmic motif that is passed between the pianos. The motif's rhythm becomes more steady in measure four, which represents when I begin to wake up, only to fall back asleep from measure six until the end. Also, the number four appears in various forms, as it relates to the number pattern of the alarm clock.
