Statement
Like all victims who suffer post-traumatic stress syndrome, sleep is seldom a respite. I dedicate these words and this image to the survivors, who carry their invisible burdens without relief.
"The stuff nightmares are made of"
empty eyes
reflecting no light
they devoured me.
night brings them back
i writhe in pain …
each blow leaves
invisible fingerprints,
only you and I
know where the bruises are.
time
fails to heal
some pains …
It brings no respite to the tortured.
yanked awake
gasping
for breath …
just as I did when you strangled me.
this time
it is only a dream …
simply more of the stuff
my nightmares are made of.
