Photograph 20"x20". A visit to The New England Holocaust Memorial
cold feet
I was nervous
read all about it
and had big expectations
although I've never been there
I knew it well...
by the time we got there
...my heart was beating faster
breathing heavily
it was cold but I was sweating...
...started walking through,
way hard to imagine...
there were 6 million numbers
etched in the glass
each number belonged...
to each individual killed
I needed to get even closer
...went bare foot
over the cold metal
heat emanated from below...
vapor made difficult to discern
the lights twinkling underneath
heart pounding and cold feet and...
...and chills, and sweating...!
Its hard to read with blurred eyes
...overwhelming...
left the towers and found stones
...my friend told me it is a Jewish tradition
to leave stones over graves...
...cause we will always remember them
and never will stop
building their monuments...
