The Ritz Theater presents Cities Classical Dance Ensemble's L’affaire de Ballet
L’affaire de Ballet; a celebration of the beauty, artistry and love of classical dance. Five performances, May 17 - 20, 2012.

L’affaire de Ballet is a dance concert that showcases an extraordinary group of inventive Twin Cities’ choreographers and dancers. Cities Classical Dance Ensemble’s artists push the boundaries of classical ballet as the company’s 14 dancers shift their physicality from lifted classical pointe work, to flowing contemporary ballet with partnering, to grounded modern movement. Whether new to dance or a connoisseur of ballet, L’affaire de Ballet offers a mixed repertoire which will appeal to any artistic taste.

L’affaire de Ballet includes the work of guest choreographer and former University of Minnesota dance department faculty member, Ronn Tice. The performance also features the modern choreography of local artist Jesse Neuman-Peterson. More classical works are presented by CCDE co-directors Laura Janson and Katherine Krieser and board member Kari Jensen. The welcome addition of opera singer Teri Karbula and local pianist and vocalist Maria Bensen deliver the excitement of live music to an evening of extraordinary dance.

"L’affaire de Ballet • Cities Classical Dance Ensemble, the area’s newest ballet company, blends traditional pointe work with modern movement, giving notions of tutu-clad princesses a slippered kick in the rear. At the Ritz, they’ll weave six choreographers’ work into a classy but cool affaire. • 5/17–5/20, ritzdolls.com"
