Statement

I painted this chair with memories of my childhood. My mother would hang out the clothes every week, weather permitting. I even have a pair of my doll's underwear hanging on a very small clothespin near the top of the chair. I used two real clothespins that I embedded into the seat of the chair. I wrote a few lines from the song "Sing a Song of Sixpence" along the bottom of the chair. It includes: the maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes, along came a blackbird and picked off her nose. A small wooden bird is perched on the top of the chair.
