I want a red dress as smooth as satin
and the hips to carry it off
I yearn for a world where it is ok to wear this dress
and not be afraid of either womanly jealousy or manly lust
I yearn for a world where women
walk anywhere without fear:
the crookedest darkest alleyways
the dense forest on the outskirts of a village
the brilliant halls of academia
with our heads held high
sassily wearing red dresses
to be boldly sensuous and to be taken seriously
at the same time
I want to shine and shimmer
until everyone loosens their grins and their spines
I want to shake my hips
in my flirty red dress
I want to dance with everyone and no one
in particular
I want a red dress as sensual as tango
as smooth as a waltz
