Statement

"Fishfinder" was a work I did in collaboration with Jeffrey Kalstrom, using Glen Langhorst's research on the structures known as the Pukaskwa Pits, which were apparently ancient solar observatories used for the prediction of the lake trout spawn on shallow offshore reefs in Lake Superior. Sitting in the seat built into the grass berm and using two poles set into the ground, an observer can line up the sunrise on both the equinox and the date of the trout spawn on a nearby manmade reef, just outside the harbor mouth in Duluth.
