Using nitrocellulose film stock from the 1930's, a young maple tree was given mythic stature. A short description of the Tree of Light began the event. This introduction covered the tree's omission from the Old Testament, its power to bestow mastery of light, and the historic moment when our forebears partook of its shining fruit ("our first taste of stardom").

This short history was followed by a re-enactment featuring the ignition of film, hundreds of feet of which snaked around the trunk and limbs of the maple. Though a great deal of heat was generated by the burning nitrate, the tree was unharmed.
