The high contrast of this image meant that a darker mat and frame would serve to set the image off from the surrounding wall. Barely visible in this photo, the top mat has a printed texture that was enhanced by hand colored additions with a tone slightly lighter than the black inner mat. The reverse profile frame serves to thrust the image out from the wall and the gold highlights tie in with tones from the image. Overall size: 20x30. Conservation glass and materials only.
