Below is a more detailed description of the works to be presented in the performance.

MARIA TIERNEY presents Sinews. The exquisite movement and imagery of the duet Sinews is accompanied by Yo Yo Ma's Silk Road Journeys: When Strangers Meet. Together the dance and score invoke the mysteries of love in this dreamy duet.

MICHAEL YONKERS started studying dance and choreography with Heidi (Hauser) Jasmin at the University of Minnesota in 1967. All of his dance training has been in Minnesota, mostly with the Nancy Hauser School, the Minnesota Dance Theatre and the Cassandra School of Middle Eastern Dance. Michael performs as a member of the Hauser Dance Company and the Continental Ballet Company. He has choreographed more than 200 "tiny dances" over the past 35 years. Michael has been doing experimental videos since 1971. He also is known for being a pioneer of alternative rock music (google "michael yonkers"). Michael is the recipient of a Mcknight fellowship for choreography.

The AMERICN HERITAGE DANCE COMPANY will perform a selection of dances by modern dance pioneer Isadora Duncan. To perform these pieces MARIA BOSCAINO, artistic director, has brought together dancers from Red Wing, Hastings, St. Paul and South Minneapolis. "When I first moved here from New York 6 years ago I worried about where I would find dancers. Then I started teaching dance and realized that there was a wealth of talent in my more advanced classses. The girls are very enthusiastic and eager to learn and perform these works."

THIRD RABBIT DANCE ENSEMBLE, directed by JOHN MUNGER, will perform the following four works:

STUFFING (premiere) Danced by Adrienne English, Choulette Evers, Bill Gladen, Tracy Monaco and Jen Stutsman. Music by Ruben and the Jets. A five minute exploration of oppressive conformity versus personal expression. Do you like doo-wop? Here it is with a seamless segue to acid-rock electricity.

TORI'S PORCH (revised 2006) Danced by Alissa Karges. Music by Taj Mahal. A heart-wrenching portrait of an impoverished girl, trapped by the circumstances of her social position, wrestling with frustrations and fury.

GENTLEMEN CAN WATCH: (2005) Danced by Adrienne English. Music by Kurt Weill. The infamous "Pirate Jenny" song from Threepenny Opera in which a scrubwoman fantasizes murderous revenge delivered upon the callous and self-justifying wealthy who live off her toil.

TENDERNESS: (1995, revised 2005) Danced by Jen Stutsman. Music by Otis Redding. What begins as an introspective reverie builds to a raw physical climax of self-assertion and power.

We are delighted to kick off 2006 with new work featuring our new members. Choulette Evers comes to us from the dance program at Arizona State/Tempe. She also dances with Off-Leash Area, Gomez Dance Group, Le Cirque Rouge and Gerry Girouard. Bill Gladen is a member of Stuart Pimsler Dance Theatre and a longtime freelance dancer in the Twin Cities. Tracy Monaco began dancing in Chicago but moved here last Fall following a couple of years in New York City. She is also a part-time backup dancer for Michael Bolton on tour.

The Third Rabbit Dance Ensemble also announces "The Rabbit Show," a monthly exploration of how dance can be fun for ordinary people. The Grand Opening of The Rabbit Show kicks off on Wednesday March 8 at Bryant Lake Bowl at 7:00pm. Contact BLB for reservations and further information.
