Necklace of shells, pearls, crystal cubes and seed beads. Antique brass "button" loop clasp. 22" (56 cm)
A friend brought me a little "pirate's chest" of these abalone shells as a gift from her vacation. None of the shells were the same size, which appeals to my interest in asymmetrical designing; but getting them to lie properly in the necklace was something of an engineering challenge. So a "simple stringing project" wasn't so simple to execute.
