Program description:

RAY TERRILL DANCE GROUP presents STILL HORIZON. Still Horizon evokes in quality, tone, and emotion the universal human experience of looking off into the horizon, seeming far, seeming near ... thinking quietly about everything and about nothing at all ... sensing the rhythms of nature shaping our steps ... working, resting, communing, and dreaming while taking, not too much ... reminiscing on things past amidst currents of our potential ... revering the beauty and grace that inspires our hopes and dreams ... grateful for the joy of life in the sphere of our time ... feeling the healing earth beneath our feet ... attending the sorrows of the earth.

OTTO RAMSTAD from the Body Cartography Project presents NO TURNS NO HANDS. This solo is an ever-renewing cycle where we see the evidence and the results of early impulses fostered and developed into a kinesthetic proposition. The nature of time holographic so that we could be dropped in anywhere and feel the whole. In this atmosphere we are like anthropologists tracking the present point moving and as a result inscribing an arc of a life in movement forwards and backwards simultaneously.

RYAN DEAN an aspiring choreographer hailing from Madison, WI and students at the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities, presents MOTHER. This piece explores Ryan’s thoughts about what it would be like for him to lose his mother and is part of a full length work exploring the concept of Memory Distortion, be on the look out for The Asthma Division’s: Lethologica this fall.

AMY BEHM, dancer with Zenon Dance company and Arena Dances, will present a new solo. Here are some words from Amy about her dance, "I began creating this solo last summer under the direction of Stephanie Skura during a Skinner Releasing workshop in Seattle, WA. I have continued to develop it through a series improvisations, some of which involved a visual artist who was sketching while I improvised. I then took the sketches and created scores and more improvisations based off of the sketches. I experimented with my own paintings, using the memory I had of the improvisations to inform the paints, color choice, and shapes. I am dedicated to the process of this solo rather than focusing on the product...allowing it to continue to shift, change, and evolve."

SARAH LAROSE will present a new quintet titled CONNECTIONS & RESOLUTIONS. This work was recently created while working with dancers in Zenon Dance School's Block E scholarship program. CONNECTIONS & RESOLUTIONS features an orginal music composition by James Weber and will be performed by Rachel Brammer-Shlay, Nina Ebbighausen, Emily Judd, Kelsey Lumpkin, and Jen Swanson.

This activity is made possible, in part, by funds provided by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council through an appropriation by the Minnesota Legislature.
