A FREE concert of dance and live music will delight visitors to the Rose Garden at Lake Harriet on Saturday, July 8 at 7 PM. The fifth annual Dances at the Lakes Festival is an outdoor dance and music event presented by the Christopher Watson Dance Company (CWDC) that showcases dance works created and performed by professional artists and young dancers from a variety of Minnesota communities. In celebration of the 5th Anniversary of Dances at the Lakes (and the 10th anniversary of its sister festival Dances on the Lakewalk held in Duluth) CWDC will remount Kiss the Rain, their critically acclaimed piece from 2001.

“Kiss the Rain, by Minneapolis choreographer Christopher Watson, was clever and athletic and perhaps the piece that required—and made you want to pay closest attention. Six dancers, cleaving their angular bodies through the rose garden blew, flicked, smacked and threw kisses to each other. Watson’s dancers moved in unison, then in a round, then individually before returning to unison, using their bodies to flow like a wave carrying a kiss through space.”
