I have worked in a few restaurants/bars, consistently for the last 3 years. I eventually became inspired to paint a bar series, mainly because the images of solemn, lonely regulars on a bar stool struck a chord with me. What's their story? Why are they here every single night? In these particular paintings, inspired by the workplace, I capture juxtaposing images of sad, lonely bar regulars next to young, buoyant bar-hoppers. These paintings recap the images I see each night when I go to work.
