Hollow turned vessel.
Turned vessel (lid off).
10" dia. x 4" high
Ancient kauri, ebony, maple, nickel-plated brass.
The inspiration for this vessel was watching water run down a sink. The coreolis effect (a very small force caused by the earth's rotation) does not actually determine the direction water spins as it drains.
This piece won Best Turning at the 2005 Northern Woods Exhibition and was shown at the Contemporary American Woodturning exhibition at the Rochester Art Center, Rochester, MN.
