As our tribal ancestors reacted to fear by turning to their weapons, so also, people of today, being more sophisticated, better educated and having the sum of history to learn from, still turn to our weapons when faced with fear. The cherry wood and stainless steel represent the modern, the walnut, ebony stained walnut and the bronze nails represent the tribal side of this work. The shape is that of a traditional shield divided in the middle. The ebony and walnut side, our ancestor's side, is larger to show that history is larger than the present.
